Our Audit and Assurance procedures go beyond providing an opinion on the financial statements. To be effective, assurance work demands a deep understanding of our client’s business, its goals and the market in which it operates. Once we have that under our belt, we can step back from the raw numbers of financial statements to see the real business issues underneath. This enables us to identify real opportunities for efficiencies and savings for our clients. Our client base includes a number of medium to large businesses operating in various sectors in New Zealand and abroad. We have a “paperless” audit approach and our audit teams are provided with the appropriate technology to enable this. Staples Rodway uses sophisticated audit evaluation and analytical tools that help us identify risk and opportunities facing our clients’ businesses.

If you are applying for an Audit and Assurance graduate position, you will have completed your CAANZ or CPA requirements and exhibit skills that will enable you to engage and work alongside our clients.

Business Advisory Services works with a broad range of New Zealand and overseas businesses including some of this country’s most successful companies. As a graduate, you will have the ability to work closely with, and be mentored by, team members who have achieved some outstanding accomplishments throughout their own careers.

Our Business Advisory Services team includes top graduates through to qualified business advisors. Many are skilled business people in their own right or have extensive experience within particular specialities. Therefore, while a client’s primary contact with Staples Rodway may handle most of their affairs, they can (and frequently do) call on the specialist advice of others whenever the situation arises. As a result, all our clients benefit from the combined experience of all our different teams, and you get the exposure to a full realm of different work.

Our clients cover a broad range of New Zealand and overseas businesses including high net worth individuals through to multi-million dollar turnover trading clients. As a graduate, you will have the ability to work closely with, and be mentored by, directors who have achieved some outstanding accomplishments throughout their own careers.

If you are applying for a position as a Business Advisory Services graduate, you will be advising our clients on:

  • Financial accounts for companies, sole traders, partnerships and trusts
  • Preparation and lodgement of Inland Revenue returns and calculation and payment of taxes due
  • Compliance with the Companies Act 1993 including filing of annual returns
  • Management accounting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Developing outsourcing solutions
  • Monitoring and management of trusts, including gifting and day to day operations.

Our Business Advisory Services graduates are dedicated to providing the best advice to our clients. You will have completed your CAANZ or CPA requirements or be very close to doing so.

Tax

If you enjoy keeping up with the play and thinking creatively, the constantly changing world of tax may appeal to you. Most business owners appreciate the importance of controlling costs and welcome advice on ways to legitimately minimise their tax. Staples Rodway are well known as tax specialists with an experienced team who are happy to assist new tax team members to develop their tax skills. Our reputation in tax can be traced back to the publication of the Staples Tax Guide, regarded as the ‘tax bible’, which was originally written by founder Charlie Staples and is now in its 77th edition.
